Weddings are wonderful occasions! They’re the ultimate celebration of love and a day that many women dream of their whole lives. Naturally, you want your big day to be perfect (after all, doesn’t everybody?). From the flowers to the décor to invitations, weddings are filled with so many details it’s enough to make your head spin! And that’s just before the big day! On your actual wedding day, your nerves will likely kick into over dive and no one wants to be stressed before they walk down the aisle!
Luckily, there’s one simple way to stay calm and keep your nerves under control as you prepare for your wedding. It’s called mindfulness and it doesn’t require you to do anything special!
Mindfulness is defined as “the act of consciously focusing your mind in the present moment without judgement and without attachment to the moment”. In simpler terms, it helps us focus on the present moment without worrying about the future or past. Mindfulness has been proven to help us better manage emotions and decrease stress, anxiety and depression. Especially when it comes to weddings, mindfulness can help the whole planning process become more enjoyable and less stressfull.
A few ways to practice mindfulness includes doing breathing exercises or meditating for a few minutes every day. You can also practice mindfulness at meals by fully focusing on and savoring your food, as well as observing your thoughts, listening intently in conversations and throwing yourself fully into doing the things you love! As a soon-to-be bride, mindfulness should be an important part of your wedding prep to help you keep calm all the way down the aisle!
